Cardboard

Most types of paper and card can be recycled in north London. Please just make sure it has no dirt, foodstuffs, grease or paint on it.

Items that can be recycled

  • Newspapers, magazines and catalogues (but please remove any plastic wrapping or free gifts)
  • 'Coated' paper that has a thin shiny coating
  • Leaflets and flyers
  • Envelopes (including with a window)
  • Cardboard
  • Greetings cards without glitter
  • Other household paper e.g. computer paper and letters
  • Shredded paper - but this must be put in an envelope before it goes in the recycling
  • Unused wallpaper

Items that cannot be recycled

  • Paper/card that is heavily stained/dirty with paint, foodstuffs or grease
  • Glitter-covered greetings cards or wrapping paper
  • Non-paper gift wrap e.g. foil-based wrapping or bags which spring back when you scrunch them
  • Sticky papers e.g. post-it notes, sticky labels and paper tape
  • Card that has lots of sticky tape stuck to it
  • Used wallpaper
  • Hygiene/sanitary products e.g. nappies, wipes, sanitary towels
  • Tissues and used paper towels
  • Wet wipes
  • Cotton wool or make-up pads
