This report provides a summary of the main findings and conclusions of the Auditor’s Annual Audit Letter to Members of the Authority.
This report provides an assessment of future waste flows and the impact of recycling on the residual waste stream and concludes that even if the Government’s statutory recycling targets can be achieved there is likely to be a significant volume of residual waste that will require treatment. Consideration is also given to the alternative technologies for the treatment of residual waste.
This report outlines the progress made to date on the negotiations with Arsenal F.C. on the relocation of the Authoritys current waste transfer facility at Ashburton Grove to a proposed alternative facility at Hornsey Street, and indicates that a Special Meeting of the Authority is likely to be needed before the next scheduled meeting at which the Authority may finalise its position on this matter as a whole.Authority is requested to permit the signing of an Undertaking with the London Borough of Islington under which LB Islington will undertake not to compulsorily purchase the Ashburton Grove waste transfer station until a suitable replacement facility is available and the Authority will withdraw its objection to the compulsory purchase of the Ashburton Grove waste transfer station
This report informs Members on the final disposal points of the waste collected by the constituent boroughs. Historic information is given for each borough, and an outline of the first nine months of the 2002/03 financial year has been completed.The report also reports the contractor’s performance and summarises the Strategy & Contracts Team’s activities since the last Authority meeting. In addition, there is the external auditor’s report on the Authority’s Best Value Performance Plan for 2002/03.

Auditors Report to the North London Waste Authority on its Best Value Performance Plan for the Year Ending 31 March 2003
This report brings Members up to date with progress on the development of a joint municipal wastes management strategy for the Authority area. The report includes a proposal for a Member Seminar to produce a common position on the development of the North London Joint Waste Strategy. The report also updates Members on development of joint bids to the £21.3 million London Recycling Fund and requests further support for future meetings of the North London Recycling Forum.
