This report provides details of actual expenditure and income for 2003/04 and briefly comments on the current financial position and outlook for future years. Based upon current information the Authority is forecast to have a revenue surplus of £1.563m at 31 March 2005. This report updates Members with progress in development of the North London Joint Waste Strategy – a joint document being prepared by the Authority in partnership with the seven North London Boroughs.
The JOINT WASTE STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT UPDATE report with the main agenda papers states that the Head of Waste Strategy & Contracts will give a verbal update on the results of the Cabinet Member Seminar at the meeting so that Members can consider any recommended revisions to the draft North London Joint Waste Strategy and consider approving the revised document as a final draft suitable for submission to the Greater London Authority.
This report advises Members of progress with the relocation of the Authority’s waste transfer station at Ashburton Grove to Hornsey Street. The construction and commissioning work has suffered some delays and co-ordination of these activities by the construction contractor has been poor. The Waste Strategy and Contracts team have therefore established a Co-ordination Team to ensure that the facility meets all of the Authority’s requirements. The Construction Contractor is however expecting practical completion (and relocation of the Authority’s operations) to occur on 23 July 2004.
This report draws to the Authority’s attention the key aspects of the Government’s formal published response to the Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme consultation (to which the Authority formally approved its response in October 2003).
