At a meeting of the NORTH LONDON WASTE AUTHORITY held on WEDNESDAY 9TH FEBRUARY 2005 - REVENUE BUDGET AND LEVY 2005/06/ APPENDIX AThis report indicates that following a fourth review of the 2004/05 budget the Authority is currently estimated to have a revenue surplus of £4.767m at 31 March 2005. As a consequence, it shows that after use of forecast revenue balances the proposed net revenue budget for 2005/06 of £54.054m will require funding of £49.287m by constituent councils. It is proposed that the funding will comprise charges for non-household waste of £7.450m and a levy of £41.837m. This represents a total increase of £4.137m (9.16%) over the combined cost to constituent councils in 2004/05.

- CONSULTATIONS ON THE DRAFT LANDFILL (ENGLAND AND WALES) REGULATIONS 2005 AND ASSESSING THE DIVERSION OF BIODEGRADABLE MUNICIPAL WASTE FROM LANDFILL BY M.B.T. AND OTHER OPTIONSThis report advises Members of two current highly technical consultations. These cover proposed changes to the Landfill (England and Wales) Regulations and how the Environment Agency will monitor the performance of Mechanical Biological Treatment Plants and other technologies in reducing the biodegradable content of MSW subsequently sent to landfill.
- CONSULTATIONS ON SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT AND WASTE PLANNINGThis report advises Members of significant current consultations on the future of wastes management. These cover proposed changes to the National Waste Strategy “Waste Strategy 2000”; new draft guidance on municipal waste management strategies; proposals on central advice and forecasting for waste; and a draft national policy statement on waste that will guide land-use planning matters for all wastes (not just municipal waste).
- CHANGES TO AUTHORITY PERSONNELThis report advises members of changes in personnel affecting the North London Waste Authority.
- NLWA REPRESENTATION AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF LONDONWASTE LIMITEDThis report asks members to nominate a representative to vote on behalf of the Authority at the Annual General Meeting of LondonWaste Limited which is usually held in April.
