Capital Waste Learning

This is a unique interactive website which aims to raise awareness, and set practical activities, around the amount of waste generated within London, and how much of it can be recycled. It is created in conjunction with education professionals specialising in curriculum planning at Key Stage 3 and 4, is constructed for use as a free teaching tool for London's secondary schools.

Community Workshops Guidance Document

This Guidance Document is intended as a resource for Local Authority Officers, Outreach Workers and others who want to plan and run effective community workshops on waste and recycling. The purpose of such workshops would be to improve recycling participation amongst target BAME communities, particularly diverse urban communities, by taking into account different audience-specific communication considerations and using engagement techniques which would improve people’s understanding of their local recycling service and shift their behaviour towards more effective use of such services. Freecycle™

Freecycle™ is a way that people who have things they want to get rid of can find people who can use them.  Freecycle operates on the internet, membership is free and it is run at a local community level by volunteers.  Simply sign up and either search for products you want, or post a description of the product you want to get rid of.  This helps keep unwanted products out of the waste-stream and gives them a new life with a new owner.
