Taking positive action

About 27% of north London’s rubbish is recycled. By 2020 it is hoped that we can reach a target of 50%. To achieve our target, we want to make it easy for you to recycle as much of your waste as possible.

We aim to:

  • Provide households in north London with easily accessible recycling and composting collection services
  • Improve the efficiency of our reuse and recycling centres, diverting at least 60% of this rubbish away from landfill sites
  • Provide new facilities in north London to enable us to recycle and compost the majority of the area's waste

You can help by:

  • Separating your rubbish for recycling
  • Separating your food and garden waste for composting at home or with a local community group
  • Recycling more when you visit your local Reuse and Recycling Centre

Did you know...

In the 30 minutes it takes for the London Eye to go round once, Londoners produce rubbish weighing as much as 30 double decker buses
