The textile industry is one of the most polluting and wasteful industries on earth. In the United Kingdom alone, more than 206.456 tonnes of textile waste are produced each year and only the 25% are either reused or recycled.
This Instagram LIVE event supports the launch of North London Waste Authority new Textile Waste Prevention Campaign “My Wardrobe, My Way” which focuses on sustainable fashion habits as an alternative to fast fashion by making the most of what you already own. Natalie Davies, the Zero Waste Doc, will be hosting an Instagram LIVE on her channel to answer all the questions about sustainable living and having a capsule clothing collection.
Some of the talking points will include:
- How to manage clothing in a zero waste lifestyle
- Ethical fashion
- Sustainable brands/ fabrics
- Disposing of unwanted clothing – donate, swap or sell. For textile recycling in north London residents can bring textiles, including shoes, to their local reuse and recycling centre or deposit them in on-street textile banks.
