North London Waste Authority invites schools to register their interest in participating in the North London Student Sustainability Conference (NLSSC) on 19 November 2026 at EcoPark House, Edmonton.
Selected schools will be invited to participate in the NLSSC to devise and develop an action plan to creating a low-waste north London.
The Conference will feature debates, presentations, and speeches from our guest speakers. There will also be a Q&A session with one of our guest speakers.
As part of the Conference, participants can win awards, and the best team will be awarded a £1000 grant towards a circular economy project at their school.
To register your interest and be the first to find out when applications open, complete our NLSSC 2026 registration of interest form (opens in new tab).
The Conference provides an opportunity for young people to voice their thoughts and opinions on key issues in waste and recycling in north London.
Students who participated in the 2025 Conference reported increased confidence in public speaking and felt that taking part enabled their voices to be heard on environmental issues.
There is also a £1,000 grant for the winning team that performs best throughout the Conference, as well as individual recognition awards and guest speakers.
By the end of the day, students will hopefully leave feeling empowered and confident that they can make a real difference in their homes and communities.
The Conference is open to teams of Year 9 pupils from secondary schools within Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, and Waltham Forest.
Information on how to apply for the 2026 Conference will be released in September 2026
