We offer free, curriculum-aligned sessions for secondary schools in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, and Waltham Forest.
Our school visits are designed to spark discussion about the circular economy and to highlight the wide range of career opportunities within the waste and sustainability sector.
All workshop content is developed in line with the National Curriculum and GCSE specifications.
During the visit, students will:
- Build confidence in understanding circular economy concepts
- Feel empowered to take positive action at home and in their communities
- Learn about real career pathways within the waste and resource management sector
You can select from our range of full-day workshops that run from 10:30am to 2:30pm.
Learning outcomes:
- Students can explain the process of energy generation from waste
- Students can solve work-based problems critically and creatively
- Students can explain the principles of the circular economy
This is done through a series of activities including: a tour of the Resource Recovery Facility, rebuilding the energy from waste process and work-based scenario task.
Learning outcomes:
- Students can explain the principles and significance of a circular economy
- Students can explain and complete a life cycle assessment
- Students are able to think critically and design a low-waste product
This is achieved through a tour of the Resource Recovery Facility and interactive workshop where students work in small teams to design and promote a zero-waste product.
Learning outcomes:
- Students will develop awareness of careers within waste management
- Students will explore and understand different sustainable waste management strategies
- Students will explore the importance of the circular economy
Students will participate in a tour of the Resource Recovery Facility, followed up by a workshop where students develop a project plan to help Waste City promote a circular economy.

North London Student Sustainability Conference
The NLSSC provides an opportunity for Year 9 students to advocate for changes they would like to see in north London whilst developing their levels of knowledge around the circular economy. Applications for the 2026 Conference will open in September.
