Update on fire at Wembley - London Fire Brigade hand site back to LondonEnergy

The fire at our Wembley transfer station has now been extinguished and London Fire Brigade has left the site, with responsibility for the facility handed back to LondonEnergy.

We can confirm that all LondonEnergy employees are safe and there were no injuries.

Now that we are able to access the site, we are beginning a comprehensive review of the incident, alongside an assessment of the condition of the facility.

Our contingency plans remain in place, with waste that would normally be handled at Wembley being redirected through other parts of the LondonEnergy network to help maintain services.

We would once again like to thank London Fire Brigade and its crews for their professionalism and dedication throughout the incident. We would also like to thank our own teams for the way they have worked together to manage the situation and maintain our services, as well as everyone else who has assisted us.

We recognise the disruption and concern the incident may have caused to our neighbours and the wider local community, and we apologise for the impact it has had.
