Arachne Greek Cypriot Women's Group

Arachne is a community-based charity in Islington with the mission to empower women and help them reach their full potential. The group do this by providing free welfare advice and support, health awareness and information, employment advice and training, accessible groups and classes, and volunteering opportunities.

Arachne have received funding to put on 3 sewing courses for women in the community. The courses are aimed to upskill residents so they can repair and upcycle their clothes and other textiles therefore preventing waste. 

The key outcomes from the project were:

• 24 sessions with 30 attendees
• 90% participants gained proficiency in sewing skills
• 90% improved their knowledge of waste prevention
• Promoted their work on local news channels and improved their social media outputs
