I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the most recently implemented employee pay award within your organisation.

Please provide the following information:

 1) The percentage pay increase that was implemented for employees under the latest pay award.

2) If different percentage increases were applied to different grades, pay bands, or employee groups, please provide the percentage increase applicable to each.

3) The date on which the pay award was formally implemented.

4) If the pay award was backdated, please provide:

The effective date from which the pay increase was backdated.

The date on which the backdated payment was made to employees.

Further to our acknowledgement your freedom of information request (reference 2026-285), our response is as follows:

Your request:

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the most recently implemented employee pay award within your organisation.

Please provide the following information:

 1) The percentage pay increase that was implemented for employees under the latest pay award.

2) If different percentage increases were applied to different grades, pay bands, or employee groups, please provide the percentage increase applicable to each.

3) The date on which the pay award was formally implemented.

The effective date from which the pay increase was backdated.

The date on which the backdated payment was made to employees.

 Our response:

  1. The 2025/26 pay award of 3.2% was applied in the September pay run and backdated to 1 April 2025.
  2. The increase of 3.2% was applied to all pay points.
  3. The pay award was implemented on 15 September 2025
  4. The relevant dates are 1 April 2025 and 15 September 2025

The 2025/26 pay award has been fully implemented following national negotiations led by the Local Government Association (LGA). Details of the agreed settlement and the wider pay negotiations are available via the links below:

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you may ask for an internal review, which should be submitted within two months of when you received our response to either informationrequests@nlwa.gov.uk or enquiry form quoting the above reference.  

If you are not content with the outcome of the review, you may complain to the Information Commissioner, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, or via their online portal. The Information Commissioner will not usually accept complaints before a review has been completed.
