Request
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am writing to request information from your organisation about any plastic waste that has been shipped to Asia.
Specifically, I am requesting the following information:
- The total amount of plastic waste shipped to Asia from your organisation over the past five years, organised by year (e.g. 10 tonnes in 2019, 20 tonnes in 2020).
- The countries that the plastic waste was shipped to.
Response
Further to our email acknowledging your EIR request (reference 2023-199), our response is as follows.
You requested information on the tonnages of plastic waste sent to Asia over the past five years and a list of the countries that it was sent to.
Recyclable plastics and plastics disposed of as residual waste (waste that cannot be recycled) have been treated in the UK for the past five years, with the exception of some recyclable plastic waste that was reprocessed in EU countries in 2018. We have not sent any plastic waste to Asia for disposal in the past five years.
