I would like to know how much your Shop generates. I asked this via email over two months ago and receive no reply.

How much does the Shop turnover each year?
How much profit does the shop make each year?
What is the money generated used for and where can it be found in your accounts?

Our response:

LondonEnergy Ltd. operates two reuse Shops:

  • A shop at Kings Road, Waltham Forest, which has been in operation for a number of years.
  • A shop at Barrowell Green Reuse and Recycling Centre, which LondonEnergy took over in July 2026.

As the Barrowell Green Reuse shop has only recently come under our management, annual turnover and contribution figures are not yet available.

At Kings Road, Waltham Forest, the turnover was £190,535 in the financial year (FY) 2025/26 and £160,152 in FY 2024/25, generating a profit of £76,042 and £75,042 respectively. Income generated by the shop is recorded within the gross income from the Re-use and Recycling Centres in the NLWA Statement of Accounts, alongside income generated from the sale of recyclates (recycled materials). This information can be found on our website: https://www.nlwa.gov.uk/ourauthority/financial-statements.

The costs of operating the shop are recorded within the gross expenditure for the Re-use and Recycling Centres, which includes the costs of operating the Authority's eight sites and managing the disposal and recycling of waste. The profit is not ringfenced for any specific activity. It forms part of the Authority's general resources and contributes towards funding the Authority's waste recycling and waste disposal services.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you may ask for an internal review,  which should be submitted within two months of when you received our response to either informationrequests@nlwa.gov.uk or enquiry form quoting the above reference.

If you are not content with the outcome of the review, you may complain to the Information Commissioner, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, or via their online portal. The Information Commissioner will not usually accept complaints before a review has been completed.
