Request for information on the types of waste treated through energy recovery at the Edmonton EcoPark

Further to our email acknowledging your environmental information request (reference 2022-188), our response is as follows.

You requested data from 2012 to the present showing ‘a breakdown of the quantity, waste type and source of materials incinerated at edmonton ecopark’s efw facility’ and ‘how much was gathered from nlwa boroughs, non nlwa boroughs or private waste companies’.

We do not hold information providing a breakdown of the types of waste treated through energy recovery at the Edmonton EcoPark. We do hold information on the waste types received at the EcoPark, which is shown in the attached spreadsheet. Please note that not all the waste received at the EcoPark is treated through energy recovery. Recyclable material is extracted from deliveries of bulky waste, construction waste, fly-tipped waste, and waste collected during street and highways cleaning. We do not hold this information from before 2013-14.

The table below gives a breakdown of the volumes of waste gathered from other sources and sent for energy recovery at the EfW facility at the Edmonton EcoPark. Please note that as this information comes from LondonEnergy Ltd it is broken down by calendar year rather than fiscal year. We do not hold data from before 2015.
