Cigarette lighters can cause fires if they are not disposed of correctly. You must hold down the valve on the lighter to release all the fuel inside. This causes a hissing sound. You will know that the lighter is empty when the hissing sound stops.
Once empty, the lighter can go in your rubbish bin. Please do not put lighters in the recycling.
If you use lighters often, you can help reduce waste by buying a refillable lighter.
