Bin Less Save More Community Workshops
£1,500 funding available for not-for-profit organisations to deliver food waste prevention workshops in north London.
The UK population wastes 10 million tonnes of food a year, 70% of which is from households. Producing food requires vast amounts of natural resources, with the global food system generating 25-30% of all total greenhouse gas emissions.
Most people don't think they waste food but 30% of north London's waste is food. 1 in 5 bags of food we buy go to waste. Reducing household food waste will help protect the planet and could save households up to £1000 per year.
What is the opportunity?
NLWA are offering £1,500 to not-for-profit organisations in north London to deliver three Bin Less Save More workshops. These workshops are designed to help residents:
- Understand the environmental impact of food waste
- Identify how much food they waste
- Learn about and commit to adopting behaviours that reduce food waste
- Gain cooking skills, through a cooking demonstration, to turn leftovers into delicious meals
Who can apply?
The funding is available to not-for-profit organisations in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington or Waltham Forest that are not currently not delivering food waste related activities.
No prior experience is needed – full training and all workshop materials will be provided.
