The identification codes show which type of material was used to make a product. That means it doesn’t necessarily indicate a product’s recyclability. Steel is used to make food cans like dog food or soup tins. Household packaging like this can go in your recycling bin at home.

Bigger steel items like tools or pots and pans can be recycled at any of north London's reuse and recycling centres (see below).
