Commercial/trade waste

Trade (commercial) waste is not accepted at any of our RRCs. However, we have created a list of some local facilities that do accept trade waste. Please note that this list has been provided in good faith, but should not be taken as exhaustive or as an endorsement of the companies listed.

Materials accepted

Any household waste which is not recyclable or suitable for reuse should be placed in the container marked 'General Waste'.

Soil and rubble policy

Each north London household can take up to six standard rubble sacks of soil and six standard rubble sacks of rubble to South Access Road RRC each month. A standard rubble sack is a 20" by 30" (51cm by 76cm) sack or equivalent.

**Please note that we are not currently able to recycle soil so it would need to go in our general waste container.

Furniture reuse

Furniture provided at this RRC goes to the Second Time Around reuse shop, located within the Kings Road RRC, Waltham Forest, where they are inspected and safety checked. Items in the shop are priced affordably offering residents the opportunity to get an item they need or want for a fraction of the cost if purchased new.

Furniture such as upholstered furniture without a fire label, with missing parts, damage that may make the item unsafe or which fail the quality inspection for any other reason will not be accepted at the shop, but will be sent for recycling where possible.

Charity Waste

Eligible charities can take up to five tonnes of non-hazardous waste/recycling each year, free of charge, to three of our Reuse and Recycling Centres (RRCs): Summers LaneHornsey Street or South Access (in the London boroughs of Barnet, Islington and Waltham Forest respectively). Read more on Taking Charity Waste to North London Reuse and Recycling Centres.
