The identification codes show which type of material was used to make a product. That means it doesn’t necessarily indicate a product’s recyclability. Aluminium is used to make drinks cans, foil and some takeaway food containers. Household packaging like this can go in your recycling bin at home.

Bigger aluminium items like cake tins or clothes drying rails can be recycled at any of north London's reuse and recycling centres (see below).
